Bigger mouthpieces don't help the sound problem you are having. Conn-Helleberg 7B is a great all around mouthpiece. It is very consistent in all ranges and dynamics. Maybe you could give it a try. Also, make sure you are blowing freely as if your air is litteraly like wind blowing, no resistence, no back pressure (open thoat and open teeth)and getting all of the tension out of your chest and stomach. Wow, do I sound like a teacher or what? I don't meant to preach to you, I can't help it, I teach tuba for a living.
