Obviuosly, clenching the teeth is to be avoided(as well as other parts of the body) but it was my understanding that the size of the oral cavity created has to have some relation to the frequncy and volume being produced. Jay, could you expand on your approach a bit? I've been teaching my students to drop their jaws in the lower register and now you've got me rethinking that approach. I suppose that is one more variable that one can remove from the whole playing process, not having to worry about what position your jaw should be in for a given note.

Hmm an interesting topic that doesn't concern selling a horn....
