I'm glad you understand now, although youre explanation has not cleared it up for me! (and I thought I already knew the difference.)
Anyway, we do have lots of names for different tubas: Monster, BAT, Giant, Kaiser, Eefer, POS, etc. None quite as academic sounding as Euphonium though, I admit.
