My daughter is a flute player and I have done this for years. It is a great way to spend some time together and is an interesting sound. We haven't been willing to try it in public yet, but who knows....
I seem to remember a discussion of tuba and flute pieces earlier this year. Look in the archives. Also, cello and flute pieces work well.
