Talk with your teacher at length about your desire for a new horn, if you do not have a private tuba teacher yet, contact your local orchestra or musician's local for a teacher in your area and take a few lessons from them. After you are better acquainted, discuss hardware, the teacher will help you in an objective decision.
That said, if you want fancy cool vintage I recommend you contact Sam Gnagey
at his e-mail address: tubanurse(AT)aol.com
Style, vintage, and price point are likely things he can meet with the variety of horns he has.
For a good flexible all-around instrument, contact one of the following :
Tony Clements, e-mail TonyC789(AT)aol.com
David Fedderly, e-mail bbctuba(AT)aol.com
or Matt Walters, e-mail dillonmw(AT)aol.com
I've dealt with all of these guys and any of them will (I am sure)
be happy to advise you in your options.
Finally, try tubenet's link below for retailers/advertisers.
Hope this helps
