I am not as huge as some people out there, so I had it placed within the area just behind the valves. My left hand sticks through the fourth valve slide wrap and wrests flat(palm side down). I had a rest for my hand installed. In this position I am very relaxed and can hold the tuba the way I like it securely. To activate it, my left thumb slides to the left as it would naturally. I had it done at Custom Music where I bought the tuba. I came up with the specific design I wanted and actually had some of the hardware, this made it a little cheaper.
