Hi!

The Meinl Weston F's are great. They are all quite different, but the F product line is so large, that just about everyone can find something they like with those F's. The MW45 has excellent rotaty valve action. The middle and upper register are a wonderful singing German F quality. The low register is good as far as German F's go, but it's going to be very different from playing the contra bass tuba.

The 45P uses the same piston valve set as is used on all MW piston tubas. This horn has been talked about quite a bit on this BBS. I'll just let you check through some of the old posts.

The 6th vavle isn't common in the states. Even people that I know that own a six valve F don't use it much. It can be an advatage because of alternate fingerings, but you can live without it.

The MW F line also includes the 45SLZ, the 46, the 182....and a few other odd instruments. The 45S (rotary) and 45SLP (piston) are the most popular right now.

Hope this helps!
