Keep the CC or upgrade it now instead. F's work in Brass Quintet, but it takes some practice. Most all American tubists need a CC or BBb first. Sounds too risky to dump your bread and butter horn in "hopes" that you will be able to replace it, at best, in 2-3 months.

An F tuba is not going to be as versatile to you as the CC. Your Brass Quintet will appreciate it. Your wind ensemble will appreciate it. Your students will appreciate it. Your wallet will appreciate it if you get a call for a job and don't have to turn it down because you are still fumbling with an unfamiliar horn.

Not sure what kind of deal you have for the F, or what your present CC is, but even new top shelf F's "only" cost $5000-7500. Buy an F in a couple of months when the financing comes through.
