The answer to your question is: MAYBE. Since the horn has already been shown and Charlie Krause has aroused an interest, I'll share some more info. The bell is indeed from the 20" bell, Conn 56J. Since the horn is now several inches shorter, tubing had to be added back in. They lengthened the 5th branch (smallest one that is attached to the dog leg) on each side. The tuning slides got longer. The best part is that they found the old jigs for the wider main tuning slide used on earlier vintage horns. From my experiments, I have seen where a wider main tuning slide can make a freer blowing horn.
That is most of what we know about the horn at this time. If the tubing wrap is changed, it will most likely be to ease the production process. We'll have to wait and see what the final product is going to be. Matt
