Bob,

I used to own a Yamaha 822 CC tuba that I traded in several months ago for a Conn 56J at Baltimore Brass. That's still for sale and is that the horn that you're possibly interested in? If so, e-mail me for as much information as you want.

As far as this particular model goes, I feel that it is a good horn. It really plays nicely with a full sound and good response. I however feel that almost all Yamaha horns have a generic sound to them. I really can't make a Yamaha sound the way I want a tuba to sound, hence why I finally decided to get rid of my Yamaha and go towards a Conn.

By all means, these horns are not bad at all. It's just that you really need to be after that specific sound that you get on it, because it's hard to change the sound to fit your other needs. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Andy Smith
