Learning treble clef is an absolute must for the tuba player (in my opinion) and learning other clefs is a pretty good idea, especially tenor clef.

What I don't think is so necessary is learning to transpose, on sight, at different intervals like trumpet players do. There just isn't any call for that skill in any of the work I do. I can imagine that learning to sight transpose might make you a better reader, even generally a better technician, but there are other techniques I employ to help me with that and those skills are also applicable to my daily playing. When I'm practicing anything, I try to be as efficient in the process as possible such that everything I learn how to do is a skill I will use.

My opinion for what it's worth...
