The only thing wrong with that is I think you would lose the character of the sound of the trombone. Sure you could play the notes. but the piece would surely have a different tone to it. I'm not saying don't do it but it will be different. I think it would lose some of it comic or light character. The piece has a very "french" sound to it. it may be difficult to keep that sound with t tuba. worth a shot though. there's only one way to find out...
