Seriously, to me the G-50's are the ultimate quintet horn. And for many people it is
a very versatile instrument. However, it's "American sound" is too much like my other, bigger piston CC's.
My early-build PT4P (not one of the new vanilla "all-around-better-horns")
has a sound which is different and which I prefer for quintet.
I do not use the PT much for larger ensembles, it is too much like a Mirafone projection-wise and I don't care much for the laser-focus approach of German horns for larger ensembles.
