Interesting about your Eb experiences. I'm quite bemused. But I think you got the best info from Perantoni about how to blow. For my thinking, the only tension should be in the diaphragm and embuchur/MOUTH. Only to provide enough muscle support for whatever range you're playing in. The rest of yourself should be relaxed. As you've found out from Mr. Perantoni, it does work.

Just for the record, not just for yourself but anyone who's reading this, I do like F tubas (Playing and listening) The fact of it's "bad" register will not deter me from playing it if I have to. I choose to stay with Eb as I play in a brass band, although it's a different sound and the playing characteristics are different it's still a great sound and I can't afford the changeover in time or money to do so.
