I have seen such an instrument illustrated in Brass Bulletin between 1985 and 1993. When I was not yet a subscriber.

The story behind the instrument was, that the tubists' society of Tokyo wanted to perform an all-tuba concert with no other brasses involved. They had an upright flugelhorn made for that purpose.

I do not remember at maker being mentioned, but Yamaha does not sound excatly unlikely in that context.

However I see some construction problems:

Most modern flugelhorns have their tuning oportunity in their leadpipes (DEG used to have a model with tuning in the body. The German Kulo models had the same feature). Whre to tune an upright flugelhorn?
