If you absolutly, positively MUST have a mute, get a metal one. the cardboard, or wood ones have serious problems, UNLESS you can get it to fit PERFECTLY in your tuba. Always be certain that tere is ENOUGH cork to adequately mute the tuba, without destroying the pitch. This may take quite a bit of experimentation to get it to work just right. In almost every case, the tuba will go sharp when muted, so pull your main slide a coupla inches and go from there.
