I use a DEG and a K&M stand on my 3+1 Besson Eb, and that sure has helped me. The K&M stand telescopes much higher, so I want to experiment using a stool with that one. I have fantasies (delusions) of becoming a jazzer - about 10 years of working with Jamie Abersold discs should get me somewhere.
My point is, a stand does make the awkward ergonomics easier to deal with.
