Ditto to what Barry said: "A stand does make the awkward ergonomics easier to deal with."
I use the DEG stand. It will hold your Besson just fine. Supporting the Besson and a heavy rehearsal mute may be beyond its capabilities. The last time I tried to use a Yamaha Silent Brass with my 981, the height rod kept slipping, not matter how much I tightened the adjusting collar. Finally I tightened the bolt so much that the threads stripped. I contacted DEG and asked where I could buy a replacement adjustment bolt-and-nut. To their credit, DEG offered to ship one but did ask that, in future such cases, I contact the dealer from who I bought the stand.
