Both the principal horn and I requested a plastic rim mouthpiece so to keep it easy, I asked for the same mouthpiece set-up that he had. It's probably Nylon. It's very soft and it isn't smoothly finished--especially not now (it's a year old).
I wanted a Stork delrin initially, but they were backed up with tons of orders, so I ended up with a Girdenelli (can't spell..). It works just fine with my ceremonial horn, but I would never use it at an audition/recital/concert band.
Do you make *gulp* french horn mouthpieces?
