The olds ambassador bass bone as I recall was just a meduim bore tenor with a 9 inch bell thrown on it to sell to schools as a cheap instrument. Not very good as a bass bone but not too bad for a cheap student line f vavle tenor. My high school years ago bought one. Not nearly as large in bore, or in sound as the Conn 88H I played at the time.
Olds did make a line of bass trombones intended for jazz and studio use. Full .562 bass bore and with only 9 inch bells they blended well with small bore tenor trombones. They have their admirers, but now that most jazz players are college eduacated, and have more of a "legit" background they are a bit old fashioned. Go with the olds ambassador only if it's really cheap, untill you can afford a better horn. The Bach 50B is a much better bass trombone, although other good horns can be found too.
