I just bought a new Sony MZ-707N for the purpose of making live recordings, trouble is the software that came with it is designed for transferring pre-existing recordings to and from your computer, so I haven't been able to use the music management software to transfer my home recordings.
I haven't played around with it much yet, but I know in order to keep the recording in a digital format you'd have to use a USB cable to get it into your computer. Otherwise, simply connect the headphone out jack to your computer's "line in" jack with a mini plug (1/8"). This of course will degrade the quality a little bit, because it is analog, but it shouldn't be too bad. Use whatever mP3 player/ripper you've got to record it onto your hard drive (I use Music Match Jukebox) and then simply burn a CD. If you've got a fancy enough program, you can tweak the EQ and everything.
Hope that made sense!
