As a high school player, I would like to say that not all of us enjoy blaring and creating a raucous. I was at the Tubachristmas in Boston last weekend, and there were 2 kids who appeared to be about 14 or 15 who keep that stereotype alive, though. I think it comes down to skill level. They don't have all the technique in the world, so they insist on blaring to distract attention from that point. These are also the people who don't shut up when the conductor is trying to speak to us. So please don't think that all HS players do this. I certainly do not. It's just a select few who think they have something to share with the rest of us. The problem is that it only takes 1 or 2 to ruin a whole event.
