We don't disagree about the purpose of the event. Heck, if fine music were the goal, I'd be like whomever (a nod to the grammar police) it was that said "I'd never belong to a club that would have me for a member." I'm not all that good, and I have plenty of tolerance for the majority of players, who do their best with a great attitude -- even if 'doing their best' consists of blowing the dust off of the horn THAT MORNING and then doing their best. The Dallas event, however, is PAINFUL due to people who are (I fear) showing off their 'superior' volume, and the Ft. Worth event is little or no better. The blat-pack rushes so badly that they are often a couple of beats ahead of the director, for which there is NO excuse.
I think I'm going to check out the Harriman, TN event this weekend, and see if it's better. Heck, it's GOTTA be!
