The census is quite interesting for a variety of reasons, but it is a bit out of date now. Some professionals change their equipment frequently, and lots of the players on this list are using different stuff now.
That doesn't dispute anything you say. But that professional X or Y uses a given instrument may not be the basis for recommending it for Z. Lee Hipp, for example, played an Alex when I first met him, and tried out a number of 6/4 horns before settling on the Neptune. He sounded spectacular on all of them.
