A really great tuba I played the other day was a Meinl-Weston 45S. Not the 45SLP. I do not know the specifics of how they are different (other than the obvious rotors), but it playes much lighter. Its sound is very F tuba-ish. For a comparison, it is much darker than my little MW 182, but not as CCtuba sounding as another friends 45SLP. Hope this helps.
