Alexs have a great sound, the ones I've sat next to have tended to have intonation problems. Still one fine player I knew was able to play an Alex very well in tune, although he later moved on to a Yorkbrunner. As an over generalization the Alexs have a sound that to my ears is a good counterpart to the bach trombones, the Miraphones to the Conns, and the Hursbrunners and large Meinel to the heavy metal Edwards. Just my impressions.
