Actually, there are more pro bass trombone players who use Bach with thayers than Edwards. Usually the set-up is an older Bach with a grafted section, not one of the newer Bach/Thayer horns.

Some pros are using their old horns with grafted sections, such as Yamaha/Thayer and Conn/Thayers.

Oddly enough, there is a movement toward the Hagmann valves. They are easier to maintain, and are less expensive while working as well. A sleeper valve was the balanced valve Bach put out at the turn of the century.
