I don't know if you're looking for the band version or the orchestra version, but there is a great recording of Schuman's New England Triptych (Be Glad Then, America-When Jesus Wept-Chester) by the St. Louis Symphony with Slatkin. It's on RCA Red Seal, the number is 09026-61282-2. The recording also includes Schuman's American Festival Overture, Symphony #10, and the Ives/Schuman Variations on America.
The orchestra sounds great, and in a tuba related mode, the tuba player sounds amazing (espec. on the Overture, just huge!). I'm not 100% sure who the player is, but it may be one of Mike Sanders' first Recordings with the SLSO (recorded Jan 1991/Nov 1992).
