Non gumming, lasts forever (almost)! I have four grandchildren that play piston instruments. I could never get them to keep their valves oiled, something was always sticking. Clean out the old oil thoroughly as mentioned earlier, put on just a couple of drops, and you will find your valves quicker than you have been able to make them before.
