It's a huge (probably the largest, and most prestigious as far as receiving an invitation for your band to perform) band directors' convention held every year around Christmas-time in Chicago. New music is played by bands, who then have the bragging rights of having been invited to participate. Of course, many many band-related vendors show up to display their wares, and many clinician folk give talks. Probably, quite a few beverages are downed each evening.
