If you're asking me; then I guess I was taught before the solfege became part of the routine. I wasn't taught that. But, it sounds like a good idea. Also, we didn't use Arban, we used Bell's Complete Method, Eby, Tyrell, Koprasch (I think) and a few trombone books.
