As a owner of a brand new Harvey Phillips Holton CC I'd say that the collaboration between Mr. Phillips and Holton/LeBlanc was very successful and they ended up producing a very powerful 4/4 horn that does rival the old monsters. This collaboration utilized an old design and new computer technogies along with the human factor of a master performer. Being a gigging musician who has to, for the most part, perform standing, I much rather haul the new Holton to a gig than to lug an older 6/4. Another thing is that the new Holton is a really fun horn to play. I have no problems getting any note from pedal F up to double high F, I'm still working on the half octaves at ether end. Since receiving the horn my other two horns have been stashed away in the closet, and they only come out if the gig has a possibility of thrashing a horn. That's not to say that I wouldn't like seeing a rebirth of the old monster horns, but I don't think the market is there to buy them.

Happy Holidays,
