Do whatever is necessary to get started. Then just play. Let the tricks fall by the wayside, and eventually you will read bass clef on a C instrument just as naturally as you know read it while holding a Bb instrument.
Don't get bogged down trying to find new and better "tricks". The absolute best way is to take your time and go through elementary material with the new horn. "Tricks" are for those people who have gotten themselves in a bind by waiting too long and being required to read the new clef too quickly.
Just play.
