I have played a PT-6p for the past 3 years, and still do about 80% of my playing on it. To me the most important characteristic of a tuba is the sound. I love the sound my PT-6 gives me: it's a nice mix of core/presence and color. My only gripes are the intonation in the 6th partial and the not-perfect valves. G, Gb, and F are finicky notes, usually being considerably sharp. At first I used alternate fingerings involving the 4th valve, but now I've just learned to blow them down to pitch. The horn isn't as nimble as a good 4/4 CC, but if any nimbleness is required I usually choose a large F.
All in all, it's a great horn if you're playing in large ensembles. For me, it would be limiting as my only instrument.
