I will disagree on this one. The YFB-621 will get lost in a big group, but when I've used the 621 in big groups, I take the top part, and it adds a clarity to the guys on the bottom, plus I think it helps them tune. It does sound a little like a Euph at times, but that isn't a bad thing. It can work, but then you want to be one of 3 tubas or more. I play a bigger horn in those groups because I have one, but I wouldn't be afraid to play everything on a 621F. When weighing options, its not a "moderate", but rather a more extreme of choices. If you want to focus mostly on solo lit, and quintet, with a big group on the side, an F isn't a bad choice. If you ever want to have a nice meaty sound, get something a little bigger than the 621 series. Even the C horn is a little thin for my ears. Moral? pick something that sounds good to you, and that you think is the right tool for your situation.

Good luck
Ben
