An issue of triggers...

I'm having a problem with the first valve on the 187 as a result of there being a trigger on it. This dubious device came with a shorter slide that facilitates the trigger operation, and as a result, most first valve pitches are sharp beyond the range of the trigger. I have a first valve slide and the matching tubes that came with the instrument, and it plays much better in tune with the longer slides. The question is-should I have the whole assembly removed and replaced with the longer, trigger-less slide, or should I leave it and live with it?
