My short list: "Once More, with Feeling", Yul Brenner as an egotistical conductor (is this a stereotype? ); "'round Midnight"; "Bird" (Charlie Parker story); "Thelonious Monk: Straight, no Chaser"; "So, you want to be a Musician", features an out of work bassoonist - a comedy of course!; "Life on Jupiter; the story of Jens Nygaard, Musician"; "Topsy - Turvey" (behind the scenes with Gilbert and Sullivan); "Isaac Stern: Life's Virtuoso, 2000"; "Orchestra Rehearsal" Fellini's look at labor problems and social struggle; "Amadeus" of course!; "Kolya" a randy cellist adopts a Russian boy in Communist Prague....... that's all i can think of quickly.
