Does anyone have experience with "Silverplater" applied to tubas? I have several very small bare spots (and one 2"x3" bare patch on the inside of the bell) which I would be pleased to "touch up"...if indeed the process was reasonably easy to do, and if the improvement would be reasonably permanent.
If you've tried this, and it works, I'd like advice on the full procedure (assume that I'm completely ignorant of the proper way to clean and polish a silver surface).
Google found an outfit named "Caswell" that offers silverplater (and its industrial strengh big brother - contains cyanide) in a $30 bottle. That price (plus some elbow grease) seems about right to me...if it works!
