I made a pilgrimage to the Brasswind Showroom today and met with Roger Lewis. What a store! I tried out a few tubas with Roger (and got a quick tuba lesson in the process!) and was blown away (no pun intended). I tried out all f tubas. My favorites were the Yamaha yfb-822 and yfb-621. I also liked the Mirafone 181 6 valve. The meinl weston 45 slz was OK but for me didn't have the good feel like the others. I'm still undecided, but I think I like the yamahas the best.

If any of you are in the market to buy a new (or used for that matter) tuba, you MUST go to South Bend and meet with Roger. He was very knowledgeable and was a super nice guy (and no, he's not paying me or offering a discount for saying this!). The sheer majesty of their tuba showroom is worth the trip itself.

Many thanks to Roger. He's a true asset to the tuba/euphonium community.
