I think you have really hit the nail on the head. We all too often beat ourselves up without stepping back and seeing that what we do is valid. We don't have to be like "X" player (insert favorite player here) to be successful. We just have to do the best we can, and accept the feedback from our surroundings. We live in an age of "perfect" recordings, where the wonders of technology over-shadow the wonders of live performance, thus giving us a false sense of the possible. It is easy to point out flaws. But to quote a rather famous tubist, "Who has ever played a perfect performance?"...
My best advice to you..... Don't ever give up... And never stop believing in yourself....
