One factor that I haven't seen here is the parents of the college-bound student. Parents usually put out a substantial amount of money for tuition etc...and it's not the job of the college faculty to guarantee the student a job after school. I would think that the parents who are footing the education bill should be the ones in there throwing a lot of light on the subject. A 17 year old kid just can't have the mature world view that supposedly his parents do.
