"Preformance Today" had the Philidelphia Bass on this last week. The tuba player mention that his tuba weighted 50 lbs and that it was a CC. I was surprised that a CC would weight more than my big York recording upright, which is only 32 lbs and is always the biggest at our Tuba Christmas. (I am on the other hand one of the shortest adult players) I know that he probably has 5 valves, maybe all rotory, and it is most likely a 5/4 or 6/4 but it is shorter in lenght. But 18 more lbs. My 4/4, 4 rotory valve, BBb Amati (go ahead and laugh) weights 18 lbs.
So why so heavy and what does yours weight?
