Hey Joe,
I agree with you completely, children are way out of control in the band room setting. I also, however, think that part of the problem is the school district that piles all the money into the athletic department, and none into the music dept. The argument can be made that if the kids weren't destroying instruments, then they wouldn't need the money. However, the routine maintenance that these instruments need never gets done on a regular basis, causing them to get worse at a much more rapid state. At least that's my take on what happens.
