check the corks, make sure they arent' weak and letting the rotor go all the way and smack metal to metal.. If so that would make a loud clanking noise ;).. I had one do that, but it also made the valve to start to close because it of the bad cork, so 2nd valve gave this half tone sound :-/ it wasn't cool..
