Tonight on our local PBS station, they aired a concert by the Berlin Philharmonic from a church in Istanbul. I caught only the last work--Berlioz' Fantastique. On the very large orchestra they actually had 2--that's two-- tubas!As well as 4 trombones, 4 bassoons, 6-7 trumpets.Never before have I seen 2 tubas, for any kind of large work.Interesting.This was a very good performance, so if you get a chance to watch it, you'll enjoy it immensely.
