I'd look for a 14K Conn (brass) or if you prefer its "sister" instrument the 36K fiberglass.

The 14K "standard" model is still larger than you Besson, and sounds better. (I've played and quickly set down Besson sousaphones a few times in my life.)

The "cheaper than 20K" 14K has better intonation and sound focus than the short-action valves model 20K, and the valve section bore of the 14K is the same size (.734") as the 20K.

You can always find 14K sousaphones on ebay in various states of repair, and frankly with various different names stenciled on the bells. I myself usually have 1-3 of these around my shop waiting to be repaired and sold.
