with you that the Olds/Reynolds (I've played both) were decent horns. My recollection (this was in the late '50s, early '60s) is that they were not as sturdy as the Kings and Conns. I remember a band director unpacking a brand new Olds BBb sousaphone for me in junior high and warning me that it would dent easily: said that if someone dropped a set of keys on it, it would make a good sized dent. The horn felt delicate compared to the King I'd been borrowing from the high school. It lived in a Wenger sousaphone chair, but I don't think the horn was in very good condition by the time I left high school some 6 years later.
