Tuning bars work on upright euphoniums where the other slides are not easly excessible. I have a 4 valve front action Conn 40I euphonium that I like because both the third valve and first valve tubes are easily accessible. I don't know if I'd like the tuning bar. I've never tried one and don't how quick it works. On my Conn I can be pulling out the first valve while I'm playing an open note or a 2 and 3 finger combination. On a tuning bar you'd have to wait and finish the previous note before you could change the slide and I don't know how quick the tuning bars are. It might work good if you realize your out of tune and then can immediately adjust accordingly, although I think out of habit I would lip it into tune any ways.
