I would second using the Rubank books. They're easy to find and inexpensive. Two books that I have used with younger players are books by Rubank called "Supplemental Studies for Tuba" (or something to that effect) and "Vandercook Etudes." Both of these books can be obtained for less than $10 total. Once a player starts to progress, the Blazhevich etude books are good to move on to. The only disadvantage is that their price has gone up substantially since LeDuc Publishing bought Robert King Music.
