Haven't played a York, but the big 6/4 York-style horns I've played a few. Playing a big horn like that is more like BREATHING through the instrument, rather that PUSHING the air through it. The sound is big and glorious. At times, it seems like the big horns aren't projecting, especially if you were weaned on Mirafones, like I was. But believe me, there is PLENTY of sound getting out into the house. If you relax and let the horn work for you, the results are breathtaking!
